What is self-love? Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve. We can think of it as a desire to give our own well-being a level of importance and respect. If you love yourself, you have regard for yourself. It’s about treating yourself as well as you would treat anyone you love.
But most of us have been conditioned to believe that we should put ourselves last. We do this under the guise of caring about others or modesty. However, this is very self-defeating. You can’t do as much for others when you don’t make yourself a priority, too.
